Professor Torrance Kirby

Professor Kirby is originally from Calgary, Alberta. He studied Classics (Greek Philosophy and Literature) at the University of King's College and Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he received BA (First Class Honours) and MA degrees respectively. While a student in the Classics Department at Dalhousie he developed his continuing interest in Patristics. He studied Ecclesiastical History in the Faculty of Modern History at Oxford University, wrote a dissertation on the political theology of Richard Hooker, and received a DPhil degree in 1988. Kirby is a member of the Center of Theological Inquiry in Princeton, New Jersey and was appointed to his position at McGill in 1997.
